Promising first steps for quantum simulation

Denis Lacroix (Nuclear Physics Pole, Phynet Team) has developed a promising algorithm for nuclear physics calculations on quantum computers. Tested on quantum computer emulators (without noise) then on IBM's quantum platform on the phenomenon of superfluidity, the algorithm has given complete satisfaction and makes it possible to sort almost instantaneously the entangled states of nuclei according to their properties (number of particles, angular momentum…). This still very preliminary work validates a programming method on these very specific computers and gives a glimpse of the potential of these machines to simulate complex nuclei.
