In an increasingly interconnected research landscape, the collaboration between the University of Oslo, the NNRC (Norway) and IJCLab is emerging as a strategic partnership for advancing fundamental and applied sciences and training the next generation of researchers and engineers. This synergy, initiated several years ago in nuclear physics and energy physics, is growing through scientific exchanges, shared expertise and the joint development of training programmes.

On 25 March 2026, teams from both institutions met to review the progress of their respective work. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics: quantum technology and its applications, nuclear physics, fission, astrophysics, physics for health, energy and environmental physics, and accelerator physics.

The Oslo-Orsay collaboration thus spans diverse fields, from nuclear physics to astrophysics, including applications in medicine and energy. Building on this momentum, the Oslo and Orsay teams plan to intensify their exchanges through student mobility, particularly for doctoral programmes, the organisation of regular seminars, reciprocal scientific missions and joint submissions to international funding calls. This collaboration highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing the scientific challenges of the 21st century.
