Tribute to Sébastien Bousson

IJCLab laboratory is hosting a tribute to Sébastien Bousson on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Pierre Lehmann Auditorium (building 200). This event will pay tribute to this exceptional researcher who dedicated his career to accelerators and profoundly marked our scientific community.

A remarkable scientific career

Sébastien Bousson dedicated his entire career to accelerators, first at IPN and then at IJCLab. A visionary in his field, he created the Supratech technological platform and made a major contribution to the European R&D strategy on accelerators. Internationally recognized as an expert in superconducting cavities, he received the prestigious CNRS Crystal Medal in 2015. For more than a decade, he led the CNRS contribution to the European Spallation Source ESS. His commitment was instrumental in the creation of IJCLab, where he held the position of associate scientific director of the accelerator physics division.

Program of the day

The ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM (coffee reception from 1:30 PM) and will bring together several speakers who will discuss different aspects of his career:

  • His beginnings and his impact at the laboratory
  • His role as an accelerator builder at the international level
  • His institutional contributions to research

A moment will be dedicated to collecting testimonies, followed by a ceremony to unveil a commemorative plaque in the presence of his family. A reception will conclude this tribute day around 4:30 PM.
