A new president for the ECT* scientific council

Marcella Grasso (PhyNet Team, Nuclear Division) has been appointed President of the Scientific Council of the European Center for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*) in Trento (Italy), from January 1, 2021. ECT* is a research center in theoretical nuclear physics, which aims to promote active contacts between theory and experiments, and with related research areas, while helping in the training of young researchers. In addition to an active local research program involving senior and junior researchers, one of the main activities of ECT* is the organization of workshops, collaboration meetings, doctoral training programs and specialized courses.

In particular, the ECT* organizes training programs for doctoral students in nuclear physics in the broad sense, including nuclear structure and reactions, nuclear astrophysics, quantum chromodynamics and hadronic physics, the physics of matter in extreme conditions and ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. Research areas also extend to topics in astrophysics and cosmology, particle physics and quantum field theory methods, condensed matter physics and multibody theory, computational physics and gas physics. ultra-cold atomics.
