COMCUBE project: a journey through the stratosphere to encounter gamma-ray

During a three and a half day flight in a stratospheric balloon, the COMCUBE collaboration successfully tested its gamma-ray space polarimeter, an instrument of unprecedented precision allowing gamma-ray bursts to be examined in detail. This flight is an important step before the final phase of the project which plans to send into orbit twenty-seven nano-satellites equipped with this new technology by 2030. This project, benefiting from major contributions from IJCLab, will be complementary to the missions existing systems probing, from space or the Earth's surface, these mysterious very high-energy cosmic phenomena.
