The Cosmix case on the way to Antarctica

One of the Cosmix cases loaned by IJCLab left on the Astrolabe, the polar icebreaker ship that left Reunion Island on October 19 for Antarctica in order to carry out the project of three first class students of the Lycée Rolland Garros du Tampon . The COSMIX educational detector which allows the measurement of cosmic ray muons was designed and manufactured at the Bordeaux Gradignan Nuclear Studies Center (CENBG, CNRS / IN2P3 and University of Bordeaux). Ten of these detectors were funded in 2014 by the Ile-de-France region and the Diagonale Paris-Saclay, and IJCLab is organizing their distribution in the academies of Créteil, Paris & Versailles, with the support of the rectorates. The journey of the Cosmix case on the astrolabe will allow the students of the Lycée Rolland Garros in Le Tampon and their teachers to demonstrate the influence on the muon flow of meteorological variations, in particular those of atmospheric pressure.
