The EMIR&A accelerator federation renewed as a Research Infrastructure

IJCLab's JANNuS-SCALP platform is one of the founding members of the National Accelerator Network for the Study of Irradiated Materials (EMIR), which was informally created in 2009. This network became the FR 3618 research federation in 2014 (CNRS, Instituts INP, IN2P3 and INC). It was listed in the 2018 roadmap for research infrastructures, and expanded in 2019 and 2020 - notably by welcoming the Andromède platform of IJCLab - to become EMIR&A, a federation of accelerators dedicated to the irradiation of molecules and materials and ion beam analyzes. It has just been renewed as a Research Infrastructure on the 2021-2025 roadmap of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

EMIR&A brings together 15 ion and electron accelerators and in situ analysis equipment with unique and complementary performances, installed on 11 platforms, located at 6 sites (Caen, Orléans, Orsay, Palaiseau, Paris, Saclay).
