The flavour sector of the Standard Model is very wellconstrainedby several measurements. However, why its structure is so peculiar is still an unresolved question. This becomes even moreinterestingin light if recent anomalies in $B$ meson semileptonic decays. In order to shed light on this interesting puzzle, the approaches that one can follow are mainly two: on the one hand, one might study the possibility that New Physics is the responsible; on the other hand, one can focus on better understanding predictions for hadronic quantities which are important in flavour processes. I will review two recent developments regarding both approaches
